The Johnson City Sertoma Club is sponsoring 8th Annual Southern Tier Fishing Derby. The derby will take place at Otsiningo Park on Saturday June 18, 2011. On-line Pre-Registration is encouraged.  This derby is limited to the catch of Carp, Blue Gill. Fun for all ages; there will be raffles, prizes, concession stand, and lots to do! Registrations can be mailed to the address on the left of this page, or register on-line.

The Southern Tier Fishing Derby Rules

Note: All fishermen 16 & older are responsible for obtaining the required fishing licenses for where they choose to fish. * Maps of fishing access locations will be available at the registration booth and at www.southerntierfishingderby.com

1. All contestants must register by 11:00 a.m. June 18, 2011. Mail-in registrations accepted until June 11, 2011. Contestants must catch their own fish.
2. This derby practices Catch & Release, all fish must be ALIVE for weigh-in & release.
3. All Carp & Bluegill must be caught by fishing pole on the day of the derby.
4. Winners will be determined by the weight of the fish entered. Winner must be present to pick up their prize.
5. Each contestant may have only one entry, but a larger entry may "bump" their previous entry.
6. Ties between fish of the same weight will be broken by length, then by girth, and if tie still exists, by date and time fish was weighed in. Fishermen over the age of 15 cannot compete for largest Bluegill.
7. All fish entered will be weighed, measured, recorded and marked. The contestant will be required to sign the record card as an acceptance of the recorded measurements.
8. All fish entered are subject to inspection.
9. Rules Committee reserves the right to disqualify or reject entries.
10. New York Conservation law prohibits gaffs in U.S. waters.
11. Contestants will be responsible for the proper LIVE transport & LIVE release.
     
IT IS ILLEGAL TO DISCARD ANY FISH INTO THE FRESHWATER OF NEW YORK STATE OR WITHIN 100 FEET OF THE SHORE.

12. Club, club officers and members, Broome Co. Parks Dept. and sponsors will not be responsible for lost, stolen or personal property damage.
13. Every effort should be made to keep the fish free of dirt and debris when brought to the weigh-in station.
14. NO SNAGGING IS PERMITTED and fishermen will be DISQUALIFIED.
15. No alcohol will be served or allowed during the event.
